Songs for the Unheard – An album journey through hearing loss

I’m proud to share Songs for the Unheard, an album born from my own journey with hearing loss. This record isn’t just music — it’s a story told in sound, lyrics, and emotion.

Some tracks are raw and aggressive, fueled by anger, frustration, and years of silence. Others are uplifting and empowering, celebrating love, resilience, and the courage it takes to reclaim identity and connection. Together, they trace the emotional landscape of living with hearing loss — the battles, the breakthroughs, and the unshakable hope that emerges when silence is no longer in control.

This album gives a voice to experiences too often misunderstood: tinnitus, auditory processing challenges, social isolation, stigma, and the daily reality of missing out. But it also shines a light on what makes us stronger: family, empathy, love, and the fight to be heard.

Here is the track-by-track journey through Songs for the Unheard:

1. Oblivion – A Song of Love

The album opens with a celebration of connection and transformation. Oblivion – A Song of Love tells the story of breaking free from the isolation of hearing loss. With love, support, and encouragement, I found the courage to receive a cochlear implant — a decision that opened up sound, confidence, and connection in ways I never imagined. This track honors that journey and the people who helped me step back into life.

2. Frankly…

Frankly… based on Frank’s Story explores the hidden toll untreated hearing loss can take on families. Missed words and constant misunderstandings can slowly erode patience, intimacy, and emotional bonds, leaving both the person with hearing loss and their loved ones feeling isolated. This song gives voice to that strain while highlighting the importance of empathy, support, and seeking help before silence drives people apart.

3. Left Behind

Raw and aggressive, Left Behind tears open the hidden pain of hearing loss and the crushing weight of isolation it brings. Fueled by heavy riffs and searing vocals, it channels years of frustration, shame, and anger into a defiant roar against stigma and indifference. Every scream and chord demands to be heard, turning struggle into survival and silence into a battle cry.

4. Louder Than Shadows

An anthem for everyday heroes living with hearing loss, Louder Than Shadows transforms isolation and frustration into strength and defiance. With soaring riffs and unflinching energy, it’s a rallying cry for resilience — a reminder that even in the absence of sound, courage and a voice that refuses to fade can prevail.

5. All the things I am not

All the things I am not confronts stigma head-on and celebrates the power of empathy. Both vulnerable and defiant, it reminds listeners that communication is a two-way street. With heartfelt lyrics and a message of resilience, the track gives voice to a community too often overlooked and misunderstood, honoring both those living with hearing loss and the people who stand beside them.

6. Endless Ringing

Haunting and relentless, Endless Ringing dives into the experience of tinnitus — the constant perception of sound when no external noise exists. This track captures the stress, anxiety, and exhaustion it can bring while also reflecting the strength required to endure it. Atmospheric and emotionally charged, it gives a voice to an invisible struggle that impacts both mind and body.

7. Stronger Than Silence

A raw and powerful rock anthem, Stronger Than Silence tells the story of a boy who grew up hiding his hearing loss, only to find strength and purpose after receiving a cochlear implant. Haunting verses capture the weight of struggle and isolation, while the soaring, defiant chorus erupts with triumph and transformation. This track is about survival and resilience — embracing what once felt like weakness and discovering it to be the greatest source of strength.

8. Lost in the Echo

Lost in the Echo explores Auditory Processing Disorder (APD), where hearing may be normal but understanding sound becomes a challenge. The song immerses listeners in the confusion, fatigue, and frustration that APD brings, from classrooms to workplaces to daily interactions. Yet it’s also about resilience — the ongoing effort to adapt, persist, and connect despite the struggle.

9. Oblivion – A Song of Hate

Where the album began with love, Oblivion – A Song of Hate channels the anger and pain of being treated as “less than” because of hearing loss. Harsh riffs and raw vocals embody the rage of isolation, rejection, and indifference, while the unwavering support of family shines through as a source of strength. It’s both fury and fuel — a reminder that even in hate’s shadow, resilience and belonging can rise.

10. UnDEAFeated

The album closes with a thunderous declaration of defiance. UnDEAFeated celebrates strength, fire, and the unstoppable power of self-expression, smashing through stigma and doubt. A hard-hitting rock anthem with driving drums and soaring guitars, it’s for anyone who’s ever been told to turn it down — a rallying cry to turn it up louder, reclaim identity, and refuse to be defined by silence.

Closing Notes

Songs for the Unheard is more than an album — it’s a journey. From love to anger, from silence to defiance, these tracks reflect the reality of hearing loss in all its weight and all its power. My hope is that this album resonates with those who live with hearing loss, their families, and anyone who has ever felt unheard. Because even in silence, there is strength. And when that strength finds its voice, it can’t be ignored.
