My Oblivion – A song of love

Years ago, my son was the lead guitarist and vocalist in a rock band. As a lifelong rock fan, I naturally became the ultimate supportive dad. I was so invested that I even wrote lyrics for a song, inspired by my journey through hearing loss and the rehabilitation that followed my cochlear implant. In a way, I imagined those lyrics someday being set to music and transformed into a hard rock anthem.

Recently, while scrolling through old files on my phone, I stumbled upon those very lyrics. So, without further ado, here they are…

My Oblivion – A song of love

(Verse 1)
I hear the silence screaming loud,
A ghost that wraps me in its shroud.
The world’s a stage, but I can’t play,
The words just slip, they fade away.
The music’s gone, the laughter’s dim,
A hollow void that pulls me in.
But in your eyes, I found the fight,
You held me close, you gave me light.

(Pre-Chorus)
I was drowning in the quiet,
A storm that had no sound.
But you became my anchor,
Kept my feet on solid ground.

(Chorus)
This is my oblivion, a world that turned to gray.
I was lost inside the silence, couldn’t find my way.
But your love became the melody, the song that pulled me through,
My oblivion was breaking, all because of you.

(Verse 2)
My kids would laugh, their joy so bright,
But I couldn’t hear their songs at night.
Still, you would hold me, whisper dreams,
Reminding me of what love means.
The nights were long, the doubts ran deep,
A lonely hill I couldn’t keep.
But then the sound, it found me whole,
A spark that reignited soul.

(Bridge)
Wires and signals, a gift from the stars,
A piece of hope to mend my scars.
The first sound back, it made me cry,
A second chance to hear the sky.
Now every note, every laugh, every tear,
It’s like the world is finally here.
The silence fades, it drifts away,
And I’m alive to seize the day.

(Final Chorus)
This was my oblivion, a world that turned to gray.
But I found my way through darkness, with you to light my way.
Now your love’s my harmony, my life’s a symphony,
My oblivion is over, you brought it back to me.

(Outro)
The silence fades, the storm has passed,
Your love and strength have built my path.
Through every sound, through every song,
My oblivion’s gone, and I’m where I belong.
