One common task I perform at Blamey Saunders hears is ear wax removal so I am often asked by clients what I recommend them to use to keep their ear wax under control.
Let me start off by saying that cerumen (ear wax) is not a bad thing; it helps to protect the ear canal from mositure and infection. Some of us produce small amounts of cerumen, others produce alot.
There are many wax management solutions available ranging from regular olive oil through to wax cleaning by a qualified professional. Somewhere in the mix is use of a hydrogen peroxide solution.
I used hydrogen peroxide based drops once many years ago at the advice of my local doctor. After the 2nd night of usage I found my ear canal to be sore and inflamed. I’ve never used it again since
I came across a great article at Hearing Aid Know which addresses using hydrogen peroxide for ear wax removal.
Have you used hydrogen peroxide to manage ear wax? I’d love to hear about your experiences.
